vivo's FAQ describes Quick action (older name: Smart click) as holding Volume Down for a few seconds while the screen is off and no music is playing, and says it does not work while the proximity (IR) sensor is covered, so it should not fire inside a pocket or bag. The FAQ only shows the flashlight action. Reviews of Funtouch OS 13 phones (vivo V27 Pro, T2 Pro) report that the list also offers opening any app the user picks. vivo's own Quick action app (SmartKey) in Funtouch OS 12 Global (vivo V25 Pro, Y16, iQOO 9T), Funtouch OS 14 (iQOO 12) and Funtouch OS 15 (iQOO 13) firmware has the options 'Open app' and 'Select app' and the hint 'Quick action is unavailable during music playback or when the IR sensor is blocked'; confidence stays 'reported' because no vivo support page documents the open-app option. Funtouch OS 14 and later also offer double-pressing Volume Down for the camera only. One long press is one event; there is no double-press variant for apps (GSMArena V29 Pro review). Not documented for OriginOS 6 (global phones from late 2025, including Funtouch OS phones updated to it). vivo says apps opened by the related Smart wake gestures only open after unlocking when a lock-screen password is set; whether Quick action behaves the same is not documented.

Double-tap or long-press the Shortcut button on the left side

DocumentedInput: Extra key

Requires: A phone with a Shortcut button: vivo X300 Pro or X Fold5 (the X300 has none)

Set it up

  1. Settings
  2. Shortcuts & accessibility
  3. Shortcut button
  4. Double-tap
  5. Quick signal: key

vivo's X300 Pro FAQ: the button switches between silent, vibrate and ring on long press by default; long press and double-tap can each be assigned a feature, including sound and vibration, camera, recorder, flashlight and app shortcuts (the X Fold5 product page calls it App Access). Assigning our entry to double-tap keeps the sound-mode switch on long press; long press is the more deliberate choice. One double-tap or one long press is one event. The setup path is documented for the X300 Pro; the X Fold5 page advertises the button but not the menu path. The same FAQ states the X300 does not support the Shortcut button.

Recommended presets

  • Shake ×3Sends a signal

Three sharp shakes within 2.5 s: hard to do by accident, easy to do without looking.

    Shake ×3, 0.15–1 s apart · whole gesture within 2.5 s

  • Widget ×2Sends a signal

Two taps on the home-screen widget within 3 s; a single accidental tap does nothing.

    Widget ×2, 0.1–3 s apart · whole gesture within 3 s

  • Volume Down hold + shake ×2Sends a signal

Hold Volume Down with the screen off, then shake twice within 5 s; the proximity check blocks pocket presses and the shakes confirm intent.

    Extra key ×1 → then within 5 s: Shake ×2, 0.1–1.5 s apart · whole gesture within 10 s

  • Volume Down hold ×2Sends a signal

Hold Volume Down with the screen off, press the power key to turn the screen off again, then hold Volume Down once more within 15 s; two deliberate holds rarely happen by accident.

    Extra key ×2, 1–15 s apart · whole gesture within 20 s

  • Shortcut button ×3Sends a signal

Three double-taps (or long presses) of the Shortcut button within 10 s; a single accidental press never fires.

    Extra key ×3, 0.3–4 s apart · whole gesture within 10 s

  • Shortcut button + shake ×2Sends a signal

One Shortcut button action followed by two shakes within 5 s; mixing a key and a motion keeps pocket and bag presses from firing.

    Extra key ×1 → then within 5 s: Shake ×2, 0.1–1.5 s apart · whole gesture within 10 s

Gestures are set up in the phone settings as shown, then combined into a trigger recipe in the app, where practice mode shows step by step whether a gesture would trigger.
