Set it up

  3. Set the double-press action to open an app
  4. Quick signal: key

Out of the box, a double press opens the camera in FlashSnap mode and a long press opens the Ella assistant (Tecno product pages). Reviews of the Camon 40 Premier 5G (Android Central) and Camon 40 Pro 5G (Revu) say the double-press action can be set to open any app. For the 4G Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro, this rests on Tecno's statement that the button is fully customizable across the series. Our sources do not give the menu location or labels, so the steps above use Settings search. Sources disagree on a single press: Android Central says it does nothing, Inquirer says one press opens the camera while the screen is on. Our sources do not say whether a chosen app opens over the lock screen or waits for unlock. The Camon 50 series has a 'One-tap AI Key', but no source confirms it can open a chosen app, so it is not covered here.
