  4. Single press, Double press or Long press
  5. Pick the option that opens an app
  6. Quick signal: key

TCL describes the Smart Key as a programmable key on the left side with three slots (single press, double press, long press); each slot can open any app, start Google Assistant, turn on the flashlight, open camera modes, take a screenshot or toggle mute. One configured press opens our entry, so one event means one press of that type. Bind a slot you don't use for anything else; a single press is easy to trigger by accident in a pocket, so a double press or long press is the safer choice. TCL's guide does not give the exact label of the app option. A 2020 review of the TCL 10 Pro said its Smart Key could not open a chosen app yet, so only models whose Smart Key is documented with the app option in 2021 or later are listed.
