DocumentedInput: Screen-off gestureRequires: OxygenOS 12 or later for this layout. OxygenOS 11 and earlier use Draw S / M / W under Settings > Buttons & gestures > Quick gestures
Set it up
- Settings
- Accessibility & convenience
- Gestures & motions
- Screen-off gestures
- Turn on Screen-off gestures
- Tap the M, W or inverted-V gesture
- Choose the app to open
- Quick signal: gesture
Path above is OxygenOS 15–16. On OxygenOS 13–14 it is Settings > Additional settings > Gestures & motions > Screen-off gestures. On OxygenOS 12, if the menu is somewhere else, search Settings for 'Screen-off gestures'. From OxygenOS 12 on, O always opens the camera and V always toggles the flashlight. The three custom gestures can each open an app, call a contact or unlock the phone. Their defaults are Calculator, Gemini and Recorder. On OxygenOS 11 and earlier, Draw O / V / S / M / W could each open a chosen app. The labels for the last two steps come from press descriptions, not a OnePlus page. BGR reports that some apps need the phone unlocked before they open. Whether our entry opens over a secure lock screen is not confirmed. Pocket mistouch prevention guards against accidental draws. The gesture also works with Always-On Display on. It only works with the screen off, so a second gesture needs a power-key lock first. Not listed because they cannot open a chosen app: the power-key double press (camera only), the Alert Slider (sound profile), the Plus Key (preset actions only as of OxygenOS 16, per press) and fingerprint Quick Launch (only apps on OnePlus's supported list).
