ReportedInput: Extra key

Requires: itel P65 (FlexButton hardware) on itel OS 14 (Android 14)

Set it up

  1. Settings
  2. Search for "FlexButton"
  3. Set the button to open an app
  4. Quick signal: key

Tecnoblog says the FlexButton is a shortcut key that can be programmed to turn on the flashlight, open the camera or open an app. WhatMobile and Naija Tech Guide describe it as an assignable shortcut (flashlight, camera, game mode) but do not mention apps. Our sources do not say which press type (single, double or long) runs the app action, or where the setting is, so the steps use Settings search. Our sources also do not say whether the app opens over the lock screen. itel's own product pages do not mention the button.

Plus what the app offers on every Android phone: In-app button, Widget, Quick Settings tile, Shake, Volume keys, Voice phrase. How to set those up

Recommended presets

  • Shake ×3Sends a signal

Three sharp shakes within 2.5 s: hard to do by accident, easy to do without looking.

    Shake ×3, 0.15–1 s apart · whole gesture within 2.5 s

  • Widget ×2Sends a signal

Two taps on the home-screen widget within 3 s; a single accidental tap does nothing.

    Widget ×2, 0.1–3 s apart · whole gesture within 3 s

  • FlexButton ×2 + shake ×2Sends a signal

Two FlexButton presses followed by two sharp shakes; the shake step guards against stray presses, because which press type opens the app is not documented.

    Extra key ×2, 0.3–3 s apart → then within 5 s: Shake ×2, 0.3–2 s apart · whole gesture within 15 s

Gestures are set up in the phone settings as shown, then combined into a trigger recipe in the app, where practice mode shows step by step whether a gesture would trigger.
